I used to practice yoga every evening, but I've kind of gotten out of the habit. I had never thought of it as a treatment for dark circles although it makes sense if it helps you sleep better. I'm going to try a two-week trial and will report back.

Yes, please let us know! I work in a health co-op where lots of our customers practice yoga but I hadn't heard any feedback on any improvements it's made on anyone!

Pranayama is supposed to be good for balancing the fluids.  Performing Pranayama for at least 5 minutes a day is recommended by many yogis.

I never thought of Yoga helping the dark circles. But in a way it does makes sence. The better you sleep the better you look.

I tried Yoga once. I strained my back trying to do one of the postures and spent a week on muscle relaxants and Percocet, which turned out to be much more relaxing than the Yoga. That was the end of the Yoga for me!

Definitely yoga helps to control dark circles. The inverted poses help to pump up circulation, especially in the head and face. Moreover they help to reduce stress which makes a way for a healthy sleeping habit. This in turn too helps to control dark circles.

I had also never heard of this form of yoga so I did some research and learned that it focus's exclusively on breathing.  From what I read it may really be beneficial in diminishing circles caused by fluid retention and sinus troubles.  I'll post the link to a fairly informitive article below.  I look forward to hearing your opinions!

I decided to give yoga a try and its great, I love it, I do it between my jogs, every other day, about 4 times a week. I got the DVD off amazon, its called Yoga crunch with sarah ivanhoe and it has 2 workouts, the joy of yoga which is more laid back stretching and fat burning yoga which isnt hard, but its a bit more intense, really tones the muscles and calms me down.

I would recommend taking a yoga class in a gym or yoga studio because for a beginner it's easy to use the wrong form and pull or strain muscles, as mentioned by another poster earlier in the thread.  If you really would prefer to start on your own in your home, I recommend the flow series, at least I think that's what it was called, I lent mine to my sister and it's never come back.  Anyway, it's a 3 video set and its based on the elements air, water, and fire.  I like it because it has a tutorial at the beginning on breathing for yoga, which if you want the full benefits is really important.  Pilates may be helpful considering that any exercise will help you sleep better and will increase your circulation, however yoga would probably be better because of the strong focus on breathing which is why Pranayama would be so beneficial, as mentioned earlier.

I think I'm going to try this just because!  If it helps the dark circles then that is great.  I think it will help me a lot over-all and it may come easier to me than some....I belly-breathe at times anyway (though not all the time).  Thanks for the article!!
