I've stumbled on this website while trying to find helpful eye circle information, and I was just wondering if you eye circle/bag experts can help me figure out what type I have

I've had mine for about 3 years, and they are just recently have become complete circles around my eyes. If i pull the skin down from under, it doesn't really make them disappear and they look somewhat "veinly?" I currently am using Airbonne corrective eye creme, but i've used it for a while and it doesn't really seem to make much a difference. If there is a difference, i would have to say Airbonne has probably made it slightly lighter. I'm thinking about trying Hylexin, but it is awfully expensive and I was hoping you guys could give me some feedback on this decision.

Welcome to the group!

My dark circles are hereditary.  These circles are caused because the skin around the eyes is very thin.
There are also a lot of blood vessels around the eyes and the red color shows through the skin.
This is just how some of us are put together.  Thin skin around the eyes.  If this skin was thicker, our
dark circles won't show as much as they do.

I've been using Petroleum Jelly to help thicken my skin around the eyes.  Laser therapy seems to help.
Read more about this under Alternatives.

I've tried a lot of creams that claim to make dark circles go away.  Well, they all seem to help some, but
my dark circles are still there.  Many other people have the same experience.  Disappointing results.
Everyone's skin is somewhat different and what might work for one people doesn't necessarily work
for another person.

On this website, please share with the group if you discover anything new that might be beneficial
to other people.  We're all anxious to get our rather unpleasant-looking dark circles to disappear.
Or, at least I am.

Thanks for the welcome, haha

I'm pretty sure my eye bags are hereditary also, as my mother and father both suffer from this horrible twist of fate ;\

However, both of them don't care, and they always make fun of me whenever I put on my eye cream or fret about it in some way ;(

I'm pretty sure my eye skin is very thin also, and i've heard several people mention Petroleum Jelly. How is it working for you? I'm quite young, but unfortunately my eyes look older Sad. I'm probably going to pass on any surgeries or laser therapies, so creams would probably be my best bet.

Petroleum Jelly works by helping the skin generate more cells and become thicker.

This process is easily visible on most skin that is fairly thick.  However, the skin around
the eyes is very thin.  I've found that thin skin has a very slow rate of becoming thicker.

Still, it doesn't hurt to put Petroleum Jelly around your eyes.  I make sure that I have some
on the skin at all times.  Day and night.

As for creams, one of the other group members mentioned that applying a cream BEFORE
adding Petroleum Jelly helps speed up the entire process.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info.

I'm going to buy Petroleum Jelly today and combine it with my Airbonne creme. When you say applying it before, do you mean you apply Petroleum and then right after you apply the cream?

Anyway, knowing myself I'm probably going to smother the jelly all over my eye bags 24/7 and pray it works. I'll update if my eye circles are beginning to diminish or not Very Happy

You should first apply the cream and let it be absorbed into the skin.

Then, apply the Petroleum Jelly over the dried cream.

Laser therapy seems to help after the cream and/or Petroleum Jelly has been applied.
This is up to you, but it seems to help energize the skin.

Well, so far there really hasn't been any lasting impact Sad I think I'm going to try Facercise, it seems to be somewhat promising.
