Anyone have luck using a yellow coverstick to neutralize the dark circles before putting on makeup? I try but don't know what I'm doing wrong... I also look rather clownish.

I tried using cover sticks but the amount applied is a bit difficult to control.  Using a small make up brush might help.  Are you tilting your head forward wo you can see where the edge of the dark area ends?  If you bring your chin down toward your chest you can sometimes get a better look at where the dark area actually begins and ends, which sometimes helps with blending.

I have found powders easier to control.  If you put a bit on and wait about 15 minutes, then go back to look, it is easier to put a little more on.  In the summer I switch to a greenish concealer powder.

Terrific tips, thanks! I think a large part of my problem is that I have a horrifically lit bathroom. I think I'm looking pretty good until I catch a glimpse of myself in better lighting. I need one of those lighted makeup mirrors.

I'll definitely try the powder. I have oily skin and creams tend to slide right off. Is there a brand you recommend?

If you can find an inexpensive yellow iron oxide or mica, which is what mineral make up has, that might work.  You could either buy the blend ready made or blend it yourself.  Try checking around where you normally buy make up and see if there are some plain mineral make ups that are loose powder with shaker tops.  Look for a concealer - they should have both yellow and green.  You might also try finding a place near a window where you get natural light.  If you get a lighted mirror you might still have the issues with looking fine in front o it but then being way too stark in regular daylight.

I too could never really understand the color thing...I figured you had to be well trained in cosmetics to know how to use it. Thanks for the tips!

For some reason, I've found a light green shade of cover-up seems to work best to hide my dark circles. I've never understood why, but then who am I to question success?  Very Happy

What I do is rub a small bit on my finger and then use my finger to blot it on the area around my eye. It blends better and I feel that I have lots more control over where I want it to go.

I use the yellow stick under my eyes.  I put a very little bit on an then blend it in with my fingers.  But then I put the regular foundation on top of it so that my skin tone is even.  I also use a green stick on any reddened areas before I put the base coat of foundation on.

I think it depends on the color of your dark cirlces.. either blue, purple, grey and etc... What's yours? Wink

I have used the cover sticks and I just can't apply it right. I either get to much or not enough. I guess practice makes perfect.

My dark circles can be different colors on any given day. Or sometimes all the same color on one day, LOL. Honsetly, I know what my problem is, I just need to get more rest (and start taking better care of myself), but that's a post that deserves its own topic...

I tried yellow make up under my eyes and found that I looked silly because I have really pale skin.  I found Arbonne's products work awesome to lighten and conceal my dark circles, and I highly recommend trying them.

Hi everyone!
My name is Tiffany, and I am a long time beauty consultant trained in cosmetics.  Let me emphatically say that yellow concealers don't cover blue/purple very well!!

Yellow based (including green) are used to cover REDNESS, as in broken capillaries, acne, rosacea, etc.

A PINK based concealer will work much better for the bluish/purple discoloration under your eyes.  You may use any kind of concealer to help, but I am a huge fan of the new mineral foundations and concealers!  They're made from crushed minerals with no binders, fillers, talc, etc.  This means better for your skin!

I am a consultant for a makeup mineral company with very affordable minerals and, we have a great concealer in apricot that would do the trick.  If you need more information, just email me.

I hope this information helps no matter what kind of concealer you end up using!  yellow/green  covers red,  pink covers blue
Best of luck to you!  Feel free to email me if you have any more questions!
Tiffany
