I notice my dark circles and puffiness get worse when I don't sleep, ESPECIALLY if I'm staying awake because I'm nervous or upset about something and can't get to sleep.

Lack of sleep is the number one reason why I get dark circles.  When I am well rested, my under eye area looks great.  I wonder what I can do to treat those lack-of-sleep dark circles besides getting more rest!

The collagen in the skin under the eyes tend to breakdown when we dont have a proper sleep ,making our blood vessels more visible. So adequate sleep is really necessary to avoid dark circles.

Thanks, Alan! I never knew there was an actual medical reason for it. I've been going on about five hours of sleep a night--or less--for the last month, and that's probably why I have bags under my eyes that I could pack and take to Europe!

It also seems to take so long to recover from lack of sleep.  I feel rested before the circles are gone.
