During the summer I like to either slice a cucumber and place in on my eyes while doing a home facial or throw it in a blender with a very small bit of Witch Hazel and spread the result around my eyes.
What is your favorite home remedy? |

If I'm going on and need a quick fix, used, cooled off tea bags rested on the eyes can reduce the puffiness and bring down the tone a little bit. I've found the best results with good old black tea.

A friend o mine swears by cooled chamomile tea bags, organic of course. Since Chamomile is reputed to have calming qualities, it might be good to not only place the bags over the eye area, but to the adjacent areas as well to soothe the areas that blood flow passes through on its way to the eyes. |

Exactly how well do these remedies actually work? Is there a natural remedy that works better for very fair people than the others?

I never really thought that cucumbers actually helped. So is it just the coolness factor or is it really something in these things that help relieve the problem?

I think it is both the cool feeling and something within the cuke that helps, although I'm not sure exactly which chemicals and helpful stuff cucumbers contain.

Another vote for the teabags as well. I could never do the cucumbers. I like them too much. They wouldn't stand a chance of staying there very long. I would smell them and then they would be gone! lol

I've never tried tea bags, but many of my friends swear by them. Next time I need a quick fix, that sounds like a good idea.

Like other have said, I too keep cucumber on my eyes to avoid dark circles (as they have the natural, harmless bleaching effect that would help us to get rid of dark circles). I used to massage my eyes with almond oil at bed time daily and it really helped me a lot to get rid of dark circles.

Cucumbers definitely decrease puffiness. Plus they feel great on your tired eyes -- nice cool cucumber resting on the eyes.

I use a little bit of honey and some cucumber juice to make an ointment and then massage under the eye for a minute, very gently of course. I read about this in a magazine and I forget what the honey does, but the cucumber has the bleaching effect as mentioned before and the massaging helps increase blood flow.
