When choosing make up or concealer for the undereye zone, try to be sure it isn't as heavy as what you might wear on the rest of your face.  A make up that is too heavy can lead to Milia, which is a form of acne where tiny bumps appear but never rupture.

Thanks for mentioning this. I have milia and never knew what caused it. The worst are the milia bumps directly under the eyes... they get quite big and are a bugger to get rid of.


The only way I've found to get rid of milia is to exfoliate the area regularly. After a few weeks/months, the bumps work their way out.

I use a Suki Naturals product. I forget the name, but it is the sugar scrub in the anti-inflammatory line. I believe it also has chamomile and lemongrass. What I like about it is that the sugar dissolves, so you can work with it in your hand before putting it on and make it less abrasive. I usually use it "full strength" just on the milia and on my acne-prone chin. Then I use some with the sugar almost all dissolved on the more delicate areas of my face.

I just found their website and looked over their products. I especially liked their animal testing policy. I just ordered several or their products from Amazon.com.

I hope you like them! I had a little rebound effect for a few days when I went all natural, but now my skin is so soft and clear. I kind of feel bad spending that much money on myself, but I waste a lot on cheap products that I never use, so it probably all comes out in the wash.

I got milia from a too heavy eye cream.  It was a cheaper generic version of Hylexin called Dermactin-TS.  I would be too nervous to use a scrub on the delicate area under my eyes.  I used a gentle foaming cleanser with Willow Bark Extract (salicylic acid).  Also, in addition to the glycolic & lactic face peels, I now use Eye Peel from Cellbone.  It has been a month now, and the milia isn't noticeable.  Also, the Eye Peel contains glycolic acid & vitamin c which helps the dark circles & wrinkles + sun damage.

My friend had a very bad case of milia.  It looked like she had a big whitehead on her upper lash line.  It was there for years & just got worse.  Neither of us knew what it was until her doctor offered to drain it with a needle.

Eeeek! I had never even heard of this condition. Thanks for the warning, SageMother. My instinct has always been to make the makeup under my eyes *more* heavy to conceal the darkness. I'll try using less from now on!

Thank you I have never heard of this. Dark circles are bad enough I sure don't want something else to worry about. From now on I will be more careful.
