| While everyone attributes dark circles to poor nutrition ,lack of sleep...and so on my family doctor says that the causes of dark circle are due to presence of internal parasites. He has adviced me to avoid too much of eating pork as they cause dark circles...Is he right? |

The parasites are causing something else that is leading to the dark circles, like dehydration perhaps, but we really need to know what the parasite is that your doctor is talking about.
Also, pork varies in quality from country to country and the only issue with it in most cases is it being cooked well all the way trhough. If your doctor is saying pork is a cause then the Trichinell spiralis worm is the culprit. There is no reason to avoid pork unless it cannot be thoroughly cooked or you are following a diet of a religious nature that forbids eating it. Eating pork that is well cooked does not cause parasites as they are killed during the heating process. |

| That sounds like a logical reason, but it would be good to check various sources (books, internet, specialists) just to make sure he's not feeding you a line to scare you. |

I don't see how Trichonosis would cause only dark circles. Trichonosis is a very nasty worm that will kill if not treated. I would definitely get some other information and then confront your doctor. In fact, you could ask him where he got his information and check it for yourself. If your doctor doesn't like it then it's time to get a new one. |

| yes, parasites can cause dark circles, its uncommon in U.S though, more likely to happen to someone living in a third world country whos heavily infested with worms which deplete the body of necessary nutrients, especially iron making the person anemic. You can go to a doctor to get tested, the most common worm is pinworm and you can usually tell if you or your child had an itchy anus, especially at night time, because thats when the worm comes out to lay its eggs. |
